Abstract, Oil Paintings on canvas from Welsh artist John Carwithen in Cardiff, Wales.
Abstract art as oil paintings, rather than digital art or drawings, are what please me. Oil paint has a substance to it, which, for me, can`t be beaten as a medium for expression. This gives it a solidity and so presence that holds our attention, like a person infront of us compared to a photograph of that same person. My abstract painting needs to wake me up like that real person with an energy that speaks to my Soul.

My abstract oil paintings are about energy and flux; the transition from form to non-form and back. Abstract is real. Things are born and die and born again. They come and they go. This is a hard reality we resist at our cost according to Buddhist thinking.
It is neither good or bad. It just is, hence my "Life & Death" series. It`s Yin & Yang, like everything.
Most paintings are about 2mX3m and are painted on stretched canvas. These is no 'subject' except to feel the above reality as my consciousness; within me and maybe within you? |
